Aloha my dear readers,
Another wedding anniversary came and went. This one, we thought should be marked with a holiday because it was anniversary 5. It wasn’t a so-called romantic holiday as you would think it to be, as we had a little one with us and honestly, we wouldn’t have enjoyed it any better without him. But, yes, it was a one-of-kind of trip; a holiday to remember and an anniversary to remember. To make it just that, we had planned on going to Hawaii. That was months ago. And then the Japan Tsunami happened. Did you know that Hawaii was hit and so was the west coast of United States? (It just didn’t make that much international news because it was nothing compared to the Japan disaster. Read Living between faults).
A few days later, we learnt that all the debris in the Pacific Ocean was travelling westward and was bound to hit the United States’ coast before it bounced towards the south east. Now with the debris heading towards HI and US mainland, another big quake on either sides of the Pacific ring of fire could speed up and increase the force of its arrival. A tsunami, if it came with all debris from Japan would only be uglier. When there was so much talk about all of this, we were wondering if we should choose another destination — you know — just to play safe. After all, it is the Pacific ring of fire that we are talking about. And what fun would it be if we went to an island and did not stay by the seaside? So we looked at our options and nothing — just nothing — would even come close to the attraction that we had for the Aloha state.
Seriously, is there anything to compare with hula dances, leis, ukulele music and the volcanoes? The beaches, of course need no mention.
So we went ahead and did it. Don’t you want to know what we braved the earthquakes and tsunamis for? Come by to read about the culture tour, the volcano tour, the scenic drives and lots more.
Mahalo for dropping by today. 🙂

*I just had to write a little prequel. I had ONE amazing holiday and am so glad that nothing — not even imminent natural disaster — swayed us from our plan to visit the archipelago.
