Look at the crowd here. You might wonder why people are taking pictures of a Starbucks cafe, and why the ‘Starbucks Mermaid’ looks different. Let me tell you that this one is supposed to be the Oldest Starbucks store.

Those who are from Seattle or who have been there will tell you that this is not just any ‘Starbucks’ store. The guidebooks and brochures call it the ‘Original Starbucks.’

First Starbucks Store
The Original Starbucks Logo, Seattle

This is said to be the very first of the long line of the company’s coffee shops around the world. And it is in the busy Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington.

(Note: In the picture is also the original Starbucks Logo.)

The oldest Starbucks store

They say it was in 1971 that Starbucks began serving its beverages, here in the Emerald City. But I also hear that the actual ‘first store’ was moved here to this address in Pike Place after it was set up elsewhere in the city for a few years.

In that case, it might be better to call it the oldest Starbucks store, no?

There was a large crowd outside as well inside the store so I skipped the trip into the cafe. But I really would have liked an order of tall Frappuccino from the ‘original’ Starbucks store. Next time, maybe.

The store seemed to have an old-world charm and it was nice to see the original logo. I'm glad I now have pictures of it.

I didn't get the part that it was set somewhere else. The next line adds to the confusion. Was it picked up and relocated?

I don't like Starbucks but would love to visit this story for its history. Beautiful clicks, Dee!

I meant to say that I hear that Pikes Place is the second address of that first store. It's still called the 'First store,' tho'. It was moved here a few years after it was open in another location in Seattle.

It does carry the charm of another time. πŸ™‚ And the old logo adds to that charm.
