Cherai is a coastal area north of Kochi in Ernakulam, Kerala*. It sits on a barrier island called Vypin Island. We found ourselves in this seaside town in August and spent a day enjoying its environs drenched in the Monsoon rains.

Monsoon in Kerala is not quite the tourist season. However, Monsoon has its own charm, it gives the land a good wash, the rivers a swell and Kerala’s already green landscapes a greener and richer look.

*Kerala is a state in south India. It lies on the southwestern coast to be more precise. It is known for its greenery, it’s coconut-palm fringed coasts and its backwater tourism, to name a few things.

I'm sure. It makes you want to just sit and watch the rain and take in all the greenery, alle?

There's always a next time, expecially when you travel so much.
Our idea was to just spend an evening there with friends. Later on we changed plans and decided to laze around this lovely place and just enjoy the rainy day. If we'd stuck to plan A, I wouldn't have had these pics to show, I guess. 🙂
Thank you so much, Mr. Bhatia.

These parts ie the southwestern part of India is so blessed naturally that it's marketing slogan, 'God's own Country' has been taken very seriously. 🙂
      Thank you, Hootin Anni.

For a change, I had a slow day just sitting and watching a monsoon day in Cherai. No regrets at all.
Thank you so much for another +1. 🙂

Most of these pics are from Cherai Beach Resort. I didn't want to put up the name in the post and make it sound like an endorsement of the property.
(For you: We visited when it was what they call 'off season.' The service was so so. The environs and food get some stars from me. 🙂

      You guys, have fun! 🙂
