Mountain House might be just be on the fringe of California’s Central Valley but come autumn, nature puts on quite a show here, thanks to the thoughtful selection of vegetation for this planned community. You might have seen some fall foliage from this residential town on a previous post but today I’m taking you on a virtual hike to show you some fall color along Mountain House Trail.
Now, you’ve might have also seen Mountain House Creek Trail here on this blog before but you have to see it in the fall!
Mountain House Creek Trail
You might have gathered by now that we’re talking about a trail in a planned community on the outer edges of the great valley in CA. And like its name tells you, this trail is in Mountain House, CA and it runs along a creek. Now let me tell you that there are two trails beside this creek. On one side of the water is a paved trail and on the other, an unpaved one, each around a mile in length.
On my previous walks around here, I started on the north east end of the trail and walked westward. This time, I got on the trail from the west, started off on the paved side one way and took the unpaved path all the way back.
When I set out, I was thinking I would be way too late for the colors of the season but I was pleasantly surprised to see the creeksides bathed in a bright yellow. The soft morning light that had gotten there a little earlier than I had, added a pleasant glow to the area and I had a thoroughly enjoyable hike in a landscape saturated in shades of yellow and brown.
Fall Color along Mountain House Creek Trail
