Catching light on a Steller’s Jay

Steller Jay at Big Basin
A Steller’s Jay at Big Basin, California

This Jay, here in the picture had come to sit by our table just outside the snack bar at Big Basin SP, hoping to get some morsels from the park visitors.

Big Basin is a Redwood State Park in California.
And Steller’s Jays and their food habits are being studied here at this State Park.

  1. What a stunning shot … and I noticed that your little Jay is banded … part of the study, I presume. A beautiful bird, but your capture of the light is just perfect and accentuates his colors beautifully. Great capture …

    1. Thanks a ton, Andrea. With all that blue, that was ONE pretty bird.
I believe that is part of the study. 🙂

I love your bird too. Wow! I doubt I'd have had the courage to shoot that one. Beautiful.
