Our World: Chasing a double rainbow

We were in Washington last summer and it was nice and warm and not unlike California, around then. Then we were back in Vancouver, Washington in the Fall and on our very first day here, the area gave us a taste of the rains that the Pacific Northwest is famous for. Rain and shine took turns that day. And then we decided to step out in the evening. Outside, the skies were a dark grey, the sun was peeping out from somewhere up there, and also there to greet us was a rainbow — a full one. I’m not sure I’d seen a full rainbow prior to that. I looked at it again and I saw that it was a double-rainbow. Now I’d seen a double rainbow before but then again it was not a full bow; only parts of two colourful rainbows.

This was my Welcome-to-Washington-Rainbow; a double one at that. 🙂

I just couldn’t help taking my phone out and taking some photos. These are pictures through the windshield and in-between showers so they are not the best. From the confines of the car, I couldn’t even manage a picture of the full rainbow.

We had to drive around quite a bit and make a few stops to get some things done that evening and everywhere we went, the big, beautiful rainbow was visible.

    1. I swear. I happened to see a rainbow earlier today, also. It wasn't a full one but it was sitting pretty just above the Columbia River. 🙂

    1. Aren't they so pretty. And like Prasad (DesiTraveler) rightly says, doesn't it give so much joy?
I'm thinking it tickled the poet in you, Saru. 🙂

      Thanks, Saru.

    1. Goose bumps? I'm not surprised, Anu. :). Quite a picture they make, don't they?
Before this, I'd never seen a full rainbow let along a double one. It was a gorgeous sight, really.
