Our World: Mt. Hood

Mt. Hood

You don’t have to go all the way to ‘Mt. Hood’ to see Mt. Hood . It is tall, imposing and unmissable. With its clear cut form and its elevation, this mountain is visible from most of Portland, Oregon and it’s surroundings. Standing at 11, 249 ft, Mt. Hood is also the tallest volcano in Oregon. So you can imagine how visible is should be. Or else, here are a whole lot of pictures.

Mt. Hood is one of the volcanoes of the Cascade Range that runs through the states of California, Oregon and Washington. It is the sight I look forward to seeing whenever I’m in Portland (it’s become such fun, spotting this landmark from different places).

Cross the interstate bridge and into Washington and you will be able to see Mt. St. Helens, one of Mt. Hood’s neighbors on the Cascade Range. More about that volcanic mountain, later.

This picture is also from West Hills, Portland. That day, I almost didn’t recognize Mt. Hood because of the clouds that were covering the top of the volcano.

    1. It really is a grand sight. This mountain range called the Cascade has several volcanic mountains like this that wear some snow even in summer.
Thank you for visiting, Param. 🙂

    1. It is a very beautiful sight. Mt. Hood and that river look great together, don't they? I like that last pic too, even though I couldn't help catching the railings of the bridge there.

      Thank you, Swati. 🙂

  1. …and how powerful nature is.
The volcanic mountains around here look so great, I've seen some up close. I have several of those travel stories coming up here. I hope you'll enjoy them. 🙂
    Thank YOU so much, USP.

    1. It's a great place to settle down if you don't mind a whole lot of rain. And by that I mean more than half of the year. Yeah. 🙂

Thank you for coming this way, Anil. 🙂
