Is that a rainbow?

Waterfall Rainbow -- Bridal Veil Falls, Yosemite

Over the weekend, we visited Yosemite National Park in California. While we were there, we walked up the 0.5 mile trail to see the Bridal Veil Falls, one of the POIs of this National Park.

At this time of the year, the falls in Yosemite are not known to be at their best. Yet, I believe were were lucky enough to see some water at the Bridal Veil Falls, considering the severe drought that CA is facing.

Bridal Veil Falls falls from a tall granite face, down towards Yosemite Valley. Every time a gust of wind blew that way the water sprayed down creating quite a sight at the top of the falls. During one of those gusty incidents, the light from the sun seems to have split into the famous 7 colours, thanks to the air that was heavy with moisture from the Bridal Veil Falls.

PS: I didn’t notice the rainbow while I was there. Neither did the other visitors who were at Bridal Veil Falls at that time. And since I do not see the rainbow in any of the other pictures I took, I believe it came and went in the blink of an eye, literally!

    1. 🙂
What's funny is that I took several pics of the fall and saw the bow in just one shot. Looks like it was up there for an incredibly short time.
      Thanks a ton, Nomad. 🙂

    1. Than you, Prasad.
It was something I found later on and most of the many pictures I took of the Bridal Veil Falls didn't have that rainbow in them. It looks like it was there for a moment and gone the next.

  1. I can't think of anything else you could call it … a rainbow it is. Thanks for letting me know about the link issue … I think I have taken care of it. You are so lucky to go to Yosemite and I am grateful to see water in the falls as well.
Beautiful capture … right time, right placke 🙂

    1. Thank you Andrea. Nobody noticed the rainbow really. And there was a crowd watching the water fall. I guess it was there for a really, really short while because my other pictures show no signs of a rainbow. Lucky catch, I say. 🙂

You're so welcome. We've all made those mistakes with links. 😉 Btw, your moon images are fabulous!!

      Yosemite is so wow!!
      Thank you. 🙂

    1. You'll be vowed by the rocky landscape here. I have a post on Yosemite coming up. Maybe that will be a sneak peek at this national park. 😉
Lemme know when you come this side. We don't live too far away from this place. And we just might know each other 😉
      Hey Vineetha, Welcome here. 🙂

    1. Haha! yeah. 🙂
      Thank you so much, Ram.
I actually didn't notice it while I was there, neither did the people who were at the falls, at the same time. I believe it just appeared and disappeared really fast. When I saw the pic, I figured it was a rainbow after all because of all the spray from the Falls.

      Thank you so much. 🙂

    1. We were there the day before the rains, Susie. So there wasn't a lot of water at the waterfall. But because of the wind, the spray was great to watch.

Has Hollister got some rains, yet?

  2. Wonderful! The beautiful sight of the rainbows at Yosemite reminds me of my trip to this place with my friends. Lovely capture. Thanks for sharing this post. After reading the beautiful description I feel like visiting this place again at the earliest.
