Curry Up Now – Indian cuisine with an international twist

Talk of Indian Street food and what comes to mind would be Chaat and Samosa and Tikkis. Now if you’re walking around San Mateo, Palo Alto or San Francisco, your attention might be caught by a bright pink and orange board that says Curry Up Now | Indian Street Food. Step in and you’ll find Indian Street food with an international twist.

Curry Up Now is where you’ll find Indianized Burritos, Quesadillas and Burgers even. Take a look at their menu:

Note:

  • The Unburger – Bun Samosa or Aloo Tikki
  • Aloo Parantha Quesadillix
  • Deconstructed Samosa or Aloo Tikki

Amusing, right?

I’d been to Curry Up Now’s restaurant in San Mateo, CA last year and its Palo Alto, CA restaurant a few months ago and really enjoyed the food both times.
Here are some pictures of the interesting spread they have there:

The Unburger

Itsy Bitsy Naan Bites

Kathi Roll

Mango Lassi

When you go there, don’t forget to pick up a copy of their pink and orange menu card and check out the ‘THE WHAT’S WHAT – food glossary and definitions. If you are not familiar with Indian food, here’s a little help and if you do know something about Indian food, this is a fun read.

When I was at the Palo Alto restaurant, I had a chat with the person at the counter. I asked them about their food trucks and found that they cover several places in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now if you live in or are visiting South Bay — You’ll find a Curry Up Now truck in Sunnyvale on Tuesdays. For other locations, look up their website – http://www.curryupnow.com/

  1. Wow.. Looks yummy.. Great to hear that lovely indian street food is available there too.. I love the menu board.. That's colourful and lovely..!!

    1. They've been very creative with their dishes and names for it. It makes the place interesting and fun.

Here in the South of San Francisco Bay there are lots of places serving chaat and things of the sort, coz there are a whole lot of Indians here. It is the Silicon Valley after all. 🙂
(Nothing beats the taste of regular roadside food back in India, tho' 😉 )

Welcome to Tipsy From the Trip, Priya. 🙂

    1. First of all, welcome to Tipsy From the Trip.

There are a lot of Indians around here – the SF Bay Area. So there are several places serving Indian food. Non Indians here are quite familiar with the Indian food. 🙂

    1. Hey Sneha, long time.

      Oh 🙁 I know…

Here in San Jose, we're spoilt for choice as far as Indian food is concerned. And most places are REALLY good.
