Hiking Mount Tamalpais in Spring

When it’s spring in the Northern Hemisphere, Mount Tamalpais, a few miles north of San Francisco is a delightful sight. The hillsides see splashes of color thanks to the wildflowers that spring up and make the trails of the state park an absolute pleasure to be on.

It was in the spring before last that we walked some trails of Mount Tamalpais, a place I’d like to return to, soon.

Spring Colors along Mount Tamalpais’ trails

When were up on Mt. Tamalpais, one of the first stops we made was on Trojan Point on Pantoll Road. There was a small parking lot there. We took one of the trails across the road from the parking lot and as we walked the hillside we saw a lot of pretty wildflowers. There were pink and purple and blue flowers. There were some golden poppies too.

Wildflowers weren’t the only thing to see there. There were low clouds that had moved and surrounded the hills. However, the higher elevations were quite cloud-free making it seem like we were on top of the world.

Near Mountain Theater

Later we walked some trails near Mountain Theater (there are many trails around there). In that area too, we saw some wildflowers beautifying the green and rocky slopes of Mount Tam.

[And if you’d like to have a quick look at Mountain Theater, an amphitheater in the park, visit this post — Grease and a bit of Greece (a Monday-Mural post)]

From some of the trails here, you can even see a part of the San Francisco Bay.

If you would like to hike in the Mt. Tam area, here are some trails to consider.
Happy Hiking!

    1. Oh yes! And it’s so beautiful this time of year.

Now that hiking is about the safest thing to do, we’ve been hiking different parts of the Diablo Mountains these days. 🙂

    1. Hey Jaish,
      Long, long time!
      I hope you are well.

It’s beautiful how green CA gets in spring. And the wildflowers are a great addition. 🙂
