Trinidad is a sweet little town tucked away in California’s North Coast, almost like a hidden gem. Built along the postcard-perfect Trinidad Bay, the town is nothing short of picturesque! The buildings are small and surrounded by pretty gardens full of flowers, the streets are calm and there’s serenity in the air.

When I said picturesque, I meant a bay that seemed to have some calm and quiet waters (even on a full moon night :)). Look out into it during the day and you’ll see some boats and rocks scattered all over it but ‘scattered with care’ like nature and man conspired to paint a mess that was pleasing to the eye.
And if you were to venture out into the water and look at the tiny town of Trinidad, you’d see adorable buildings in pockets of greenery, some cliffs, and beyond it, lush forested mountains protecting this precious area.

We visited Trinidad in the first week of June as most of the country was still getting ready to wrap up the school year. We arrived there on a Sunday evening and spent a couple of days exploring the redwood forests nearby, walking about the waterfront, trying out local restaurants, making some short trips to the beaches and hiking Trinidad head.
I fell in love with the tranquil bay, the views, the unhurried life, the dark green vegetation and the uncrowded beaches. The hikes further deepened my affection for the place. Like I said earlier, summer was just arriving and we were there on some weekdays, however, I’d like to save ‘this’ calm and quiet picture in my mind — my picture of Trinidad, California.
