It was a summers day. The plan was to have an ideal summer day — make a trip to a beach north of San Francisco and then go see the lighthouse at Point Reyes. Now this lighthouse is one of those lighthouses that make a perfect picture — you know — like the kind you see in a post card or a travel brochure. A long winding pathway and at the end of it, a cute little story-book kind of lighthouse standing on a craggy coast. It is one of those places you must see if you are in northern California or else you should look it up online and see pictures of it and you will see what I mean. I would have shown it to you myself, if it wasn’t for the fog at Point Reyes the afternoon we were there.
Note: it was summer. And we were at the beach, playing in the sand, watching the waves and the beautiful landscape and having a picnic lunch there. After the meal, we decided to head for the lighthouse that was just a few miles away. But when we were on the road again, we saw the landscape getting misty and before we knew it, we were in the think of the fog. It was a summer afternoon. And even the fog wanted to be on the Pacific Coast.
The atmosphere was divine with fog teasing the hilly landscape and the road that twisted through it. We even spotted some deer silhouetted in the smoky white roadsides. We drove on some more, parked at the lighthouse parking lot and began the hike to the coast. We walked up to the part where we were supposed to begin the decent to the lighthouse and found that the path was gated! The reason was the fog. Now you have to see what the fog at Point Reyes can do to the lighthouse and its surroundings. So here we go:
I had a good walk through the fog at Point Reyes and I guess that is pretty obvious. The deer were a pleasant surprise. I must say I was disappointed that I couldn’t see Point Reyes Lighthouse but I hope to go that way again and give it another try. This time I will make sure I check out what the weather forecasts have to say about the fog in the area. And I promise — I’ll bring back pictures from there. 🙂

These images have a magical appeal to them. The Fog, the Bridge, gloomy mood makes them mystical. And those Deer, I am sure they had no idea due to fog that you were there 🙂
It was such a gorgeous sight. And the deer — a total surprise; a very pleasant one at that.
But I must admit I was disappointed at not being able to go down those steps and see that picturesque light house.
Anyway, I don’t need to get a flight to go see this place. So I guess I’ll be there again, soon. 🙂
