Two evenings on the trail to Mather Point

No two sunsets are alike. These late-evening pictures from a point on the trail to Mather Point in Grand Canyon, show just that. Come, see these picturesque sights from Arizona. >>

They say — no two sunsets are alike; not even if you watch them at the same place around the same time on another day. And I got to document that fact when I found myself on the trail to Mather Point in Grand Canyon, two successive evenings in January.

If you came by this blog last week, you might have seen pictures of a dramatic sunset sky at Grand Canyon Village.  After recording those sights at the parking lot of the visitor center at the Village, I made my way to Mather Point to have my first look of the grandest canyon in the world. Later, as I was walking back to the parking lot I set eyes on a beautiful yellow sky below the dark clouds I had seen earlier. (If you missed that post you might want to see Dusk rolling into Grand Canyon Village.)

Of course, I couldn’t walk away without a picture or two of that sight. 🙂

The next day, after a tour of the entire south rim of the Grand Canyon, we decided to spend the evening at Mather Point and try to catch the sunset there. So we were back at the most popular viewpoint. Although around that time of the year, you don’t really get to see the sun go down from that point, the Grand Canyon was a lovely picture, especially with the warm light embracing the red rocks around sunset time.

This time again, on the way back to the parking lot, I got to see the sky where the sun had just set and it was a beautiful sight.

Further down the path, I made a stop at the place that I had paused the previous evening and even with the same boulders (and some people) silhouetted against the evening sky, the picture was different.

Beautiful sunset pictures 🙂 Sunsets have the beauty and charm to mesmerize you. And yes, they are never the same. Neither the feel, nor the beauty!
