Window shopping in Chinatown

Among the top attractions in San Francisco is a Chinatown, made right here is this city by the bay. Here are a few pictures from a walk or better still – a window shopping session in San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Before you look at the pictures, you might want to read more about this area here — From San Francisco’s Chinatown.

  1. Thank you, Gaelikaa. I was attracted to that window too. They look like silk Kurtis, don't they? 🙂 I guess what makes them Chinese are the Chinese silk brocades, mandarin necks and those fabric loop n' knot thing for buttons.

  2. Wow….it's a dream place to shop, I can see! I love collecting artifacts of all kinds…so the blog actually made me TIPSY!:)))
Enjoyed going through the pics.thanks so much for sharing. Smiles.

    1. Nice to hear that, Panchali di. In that case you'll love this street. 🙂
      My pleasure!
Feels great to know that this post made you tipsy. That's great news 😉

  3. Waiting for the Chinese New Year festivities in Seoul 🙂 My favorite pic is the beautiful hanji paper lanterns. Dont they look amazing!

    1. Wow! That's going to be a lot of fun. Last year we went and attended the Chinese New Year Parade in SF and some Lunar New Year celebrations in Redwood city. It was so nice to watch those cultural programmes, especially the Lion Dance. 🙂
Those lanterns are really very attractive.

Have fun at the Lunar New Year celebrations, Meoww.

  4. Thank you for sharing these snaps. Its amazing how cultures have crossed the seas and established themselves without much problems. One can easily mistake the snaps to have been taken in Hong Kong or China.

    1. My pleasure, JK. If you visit the other post on this Chinatown you'll see they've put in a lot work in making this place look very traditional. They also have large-scale Lunar New Year celebrations every year. 🙂

Hope to see you here more often, JK. 🙂

  5. Ah, this is a post after my heart, there is everything in there – colors, arts and food – one of the best ways to get a feel of the town. Enjoyed walking down through it alongwith you! 🙂

    1. Just walking down 'Grant Avenue' is an experience. Really.
So glad you enjoyed that. Do check out the post on the Chinese New Year parade that also takes place here.
