One rainy Sunday, a couple of weeks ago we had this sudden impulse to go get some ice cream in the newly opened ice cream place in Mountain House, CA. When I walked into the Häagen-Dazs, what first caught my eye was the art on the walls. There looking back at me were a couple of colorful ice cream murals and one mural of the pattern you see on Häagen-Dazs’ packaging.
Häagen-Dazs’ ice cream murals
The first ice cream mural was that of a cone in New York, the home of the ice cream (yeah, more on that later in the post). The second one was one of a couple enjoying the cold treat, and then there was the wall with the packaging design.
Attractive murals, aren’t they? They sure make that ‘wait in the line’ more easy. 🙂
These ice-cream themed murals, I hear, are a result of Häagen-Dazs’ ‘artful redesign’ program. I like this 360-degree brand experience they had in mind, and I’d love to see more murals in their shops. Have you been to a Häagen-Dazs location recently? Did you spot a mural, there?
By the way, did you know that Häagen-Dazs’ is not exactly a European brand as the name might imply? It was only recently that my misconception was corrected about the origin of this ice cream company. It seems to be an ice cream born in the United States, in the Bronx in New York, to be exact. The year, I believe, is 1960.
That being the case, the first mural here in this post might as well be a historical mural. 😀 There’s a Häagen-Dazs ice cream, its home — New York City, and a depiction of the first three flavors of this ice cream brand: vanilla, chocolate and coffee.
Talking of coffee ice cream, that’s one of my favorite ice creams and the one that I ordered after that wait in the line in the Häagen-Dazs in Mountain House, CA.

I also thought Häagen-Dazs was an European brand. It’s getting a bit cool to eat a lot of ice-creams, but I had 2 when we went camping at the end of April. Not a fan of coffee, but I love salted caramel 🙂
The ice cream murals are lovely. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Dee.
It’s the name, I guess.
I’m sure, with winter approaching. We’re going into summer, soon so I guess I should go looking for more ice cream murals 😀
And I’ll have a salted caramel, for you, Sami. 🙂
Thank you so, so much for hosting, Sami.
Have a good week. 🙂
I assumed it was European too!
Right?! My reading tells me the founders of the brand wanted it to sound European. 🙂
Thank you for coming this way, Jackie. 🙂
This post has left me with a craving for ice cream!
I’m sure you actually need one. How hot is Mumbai these days? 🙂

That was a fun find.
Thank you for visiting, Rupam.
I thought it was California-born enterprise.
Did you?! 🙂
With summer temperatures creeping up, we are going to need it, soon.
Thank you for coming this way, M. 🙂
..I scream for ice cream too!
😀
I hope you get to enjoy some, soon. (Maybe this weekend.) 🙂
