Ever seen a mural on a roof? I recently got to see not one but two of them. With July 4th just around the corner, this has to be the best time to share the first of them, which is that of an American flag mural.
We were on Interstate 5 in Northern California in a landscape of the green and golden hills of Siskiyou County when a red roof beside the highway caught my eye. On it were stars, stripes and the national bird, the Bald Eagle. And below these images were the words: God Bless You.
I have not been able to find information about this mural or the artist. And if I do, I’ll be happy to add it here. For now, let me show you another picture of that sight.

Interestingly, way at the back of my head is an image of this roof with something else painted on it. I’m not even sure it’s the same roof but I think I remember seeing ‘Jefferson’ written on it. And if I remember correctly, it was around that time that a part of California wanted to become Jefferson State.
I feel I might even have a picture of it, but I haven’t been able to find it. I’ve gone through my travel albums and all the folders of pictures of our trips to the Pacific Northwest, but alas! However, I do manage to find it, I’d be happy to add that to this post as well.
(I’m desperate to find out if my mind is just playing games or if there really was a maroon roof with white letters on it. Anyone from that area or anyone who often takes this route, remember anything like that?
Happy Fourth of July!
And do come back to see the next rooftop art I have to share with you. It is a supercool sight!

A great mural for the 4th of July for sure!
It wouldn’t have been easy to paint the mural on the roof.
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Dee.
Oh yes! I’m sure that wasn’t easy to do. And it’s a big canvas, too.
Thank you for hosting, Sami. 🙂
…Dee, I wish you a happy and safe 4th!
Thank you, Tom.
To you too!
Cheers! 😉
Perfect timing to find this great mural!
I almost missed posting this. 🙂
I’m glad it’s up.
Happy 4th to you, Alice. And thank you for visiting! 🙂
Great job!
Isn’t it?
