The Almond Orchards Are In Blossom!

It’s that time of the year again. Winter showers have turned the rolling east-bay hills as well as California’s Central Valley a RICH green. The days are getting longer. And wildflowers and fruit blossoms are here!

Several farms around Tracy are now growing almonds and the young trees with their pale-pink blossoms have become quite an attraction in The Valley.

Visit this part of the valley and you are sure to see neat rows of dark brown trees with what looks like light pink clouds on them.

All of last week, I’d been driving past these fruit blossoms. And all week long, those hands on the wheel have been itching to take a few pictures of the pretty sight. As I couldn’t stop to do that, I had been looking forward to the weekend. I’d been waiting for the hubby’s return from his business trip so that I could ask him to take me for a drive around there and I could take a few pictures.

But then, it poured all night Friday and into Saturday and I was worried the rain and wind would take down all those almond blossoms which even otherwise don’t last very long.

On Saturday, when the showers took a break, we stepped out. It was a grey day and the sights looked a bit dull but I managed a few cell phone pictures during the drive. The fruit trees had lost some flowers and the petals that had made a white carpet on the floor had been washed away too.

    1. I went that way again. Those flowers are fast falling. 🙁

Almonds? Hmm…it would be nice to see it beat the electronics and the chocolates. 😀 😀

  1. I had only heard about California Almonds, today courtesy your blogpost seeing the almond blossoms. Feels great to come across such beautiful pictures of blossoms.

    1. It was such a pretty sight. I’m already looking forward to seeing it next year. By then these trees will be bigger too. 😉
Thank you, Jyotirmoy. I hope I’ll be able to get some better pictures next time.

    1. These flowers are almost all gone, already. I see some green coming back onto those trees too.

Oh, is it? Spring’s not far away. 🙂
You have a good day too, Eileen. 🙂
