With spring winding up for the year, all the almond trees in California’s central valley look a lush green these days. But before spring officially hands over the baton to summer, let me show you some sights from the early days of the season. Let me show you some almond blossoms!
Where to see Almond Blossoms next spring?
Drive down (or up) California’s Central Valley in early spring and you are sure to catch these sights. There are so many almond orchards in the valley and they seem to be growing in number each year.
If you’ve been a regular here, you’ve probably seen pictures of the flowering trees from springs past. And you might even remember some facts about almond cultivation in CA. If not, or you missed those posts, let me tell you that California is said to produce 80 % of the world’s almonds and almost 100 % of the United states’. (Going by the expansion of the almond-cultivating areas in the valley, I wouldn’t be surprised if those percentages saw a steep increase in the next few years.)
These pictures are from an orchard near Tracy from a couple of months ago. Visit the previous posts on these trees and their blossoms, and you’ll see that I’ve been able to see almond orchards in blossom all the way down to Modesto.
Most farms let you get in and enjoy the beauty, take pictures of the trees and flowers, and take those pretty portraits, too. Just remember to be respectful of the property in return for the kindness. π
What’s the best time to see Almond flowers in California
Almonds blossoming are some of the first signs-of-spring that we see around here. We begin to see flowers from Mid-February to early March. The window lasts roughly three weeks so make sure you plan in advance so as to not miss that short window.
