Found Port Angeles: Olympic Visions

Olympic Mountains mural - Olympic Visions, Port Angeles

This picture of an Olympic Mountains mural set against the lush vegetation of The Evergreen State is from Port Angeles, WA.

Called Olympic Visions, this mural was created by artist Tim Quinn in 1999, repainted in 2010 by  Jackson Smart and Dani LaBlond and found/photographed (by me :D) in 2019.

As the title suggests, this is a mural of the Olympic Mountains in the state of Washington. The mural also depicts the rich green vegetation of the Pacific Northwest, cold blue waters of the state and the fauna of the area.

My reading tells me that if you look closely at the clouds you would see the faces of two former presidents of the United States. Do you see them?

Hidden in the clouds are supposed to be presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Roosevelt who played major roles in protecting this area of the Pacific Northwest. Now, do you see them?

In the last picture of the Olympic mountains mural you’ll see a bear. If you look into it carefully you’ll also see a bird (an eagle, maybe). The Olympic Visions mural is said to have a large number of murals painted into it and when the mural was repainted, the city of Port Angeles conducted a critter counting contest. What fun!

If you’d like to go critter counting in the Olympic Visions, let me tell you that this Olympic Mountains mural can be seen in downtown Port Angeles — on W. First Street near the Conrad Dyar Fountain, to be exact.

And here’s why you might want to visit Port Angeles in Washington:
— It is the gateway to the Olympic Mountains
— It is just outside the Olympic National Park
Hurricane Ridge (one of the major attractions of the park) is just around 20 miles from Port Angeles

    1. It is in a great spot. Everything there seems to work well with the mural.

No issues, Sami. You actually added all our links? That’s so sweet of you. Thank you so so much. 🙂
      Have a lovely week.

  1. What a beautiful find. I immediately saw Teddy, but still have trouble seeing that is FDR. Still, it’s a great mural and well done that it was repainted to keep it for future viewers to enjoy and appreciate.

    1. Me too. 🙂
It’s a great idea, tho’ to remember the presidents who played a great role in protecting these gorgeous parts of the state. And it’s a really good piece of art, too.

      Thank you for visiting, Elizabeth.
