Found in Aberdeen: The Immigrants

Last week, you saw The History of Transportation in Grays Harbor, a long mural — a documentation on a wall in Aberdeen, WA. Here is another such mural. This one is also from Aberdeen in Grays Harbor in Washington (State). And this mural was also created by artist Jenny Fisher. Today’s documentation-style mural is called The Immigrants and it honors the immigrants of Grays Harbor.

The Immigrants — the mural is on a wall of Union Gospel Mission, an organization that aims at helping homeless people in the area. This mural in Aberdeen, WA seems to have painted in 2016.

The mural is said to have been commissioned by Our Aberdeen that has been overseeing many local art projects to beautify the area. The note beside the mural says it was sponsored by City of Aberdeen, Port of Grays Harbor, Grays Harbor County Department of Tourist, Grays Harbor Community Foundation, City of Aberdeen Public Works Department and others.

This clearly shows that the city of Aberdeen loves murals has been making a conscious effort to get public art on the walls of the city. See more Aberdeen art here — Aberdeen Murals

Aberdeen, WA

Aberdeen is a city in Washington. It is also the largest city in the county of Grays Harbor. I hear it is also called Gateway to the Olympic Peninsula.

You will be passing this city in WA if you take the coastal side of US 101 between Oregon and Washington. I passed by this city and came across these Grays Harbor murals (this one and the one in the previous post) when I was traveling from Astoria, OR to Port Angeles, WA.
