Found in Aberdeen

MondayMural -- History of Transportation in Grays Harbor, Aberdeen,WA
Aberdeen, WA.

The Summer before last, when we tripped to the Pacific Northwest, we took US 101 to the north, passing so many coastal towns in Washington. And I happened to spot a few murals along the way. Last week you saw some murals from Ilwaco. This week we go further north to see a mural in Aberdeen, WA.

This mural has in it pictures of some modes of transport: horse-drawn carriages, boats, wagons and an airplane, to name a few of them. This mural is called History of Transportation in Grays Harbor, and can be found on the outer walls of Aberdeen Transit Center.

History of Transportation in Grays Harbor – the mural is a work of artist Jenny Fisher. And it was first painted in 1988, I hear. (It looks like it was re-touched a few years back.)

The wall also had directions to neighboring towns. Now, that’s something I don’t think I’ve seen, I mean, murals with directions on them. Look at the first picture and you will see directions (one even mentions the distance) to Ocean Shores, WA and Westport, WA.

Grays Harbor

Grays Harbor is a county in Washington (State), USA. In fact, it is the county in which Aberdeen, WA is situated and Aberdeen happens to be the largest city in the county.

And that was quite obvious. I remember we passed through several small towns on the way to Port Angeles and this place with all its buildings, vehicles and murals did stand out amidst the quiet and quaint little towns.
