Monday Mural: Found in Ilwaco

A few pictures from a seaside town in Washington. See some colorful fish and a depiction of the town in the 20s...

Ilwaco Murals, Ilwaco, Washington.

This week for Monday Mural, I’m taking you to Ilwaco in Washington (state). These Ilwaco murals are from the year before last, when we were exploring a bit more of The Evergreen State.

Some Ilwaco Murals:

We were on the way to Cape Disappointment when I caught sight of this fish mural. And I’m pretty sure it was in Ilwaco, WA because I came across this work a little before we got to Cape Disappointment State Park.

I don’t see it signed and haven’t been able to find out who the artist is but it sure is attractive, is it not?

Now, let me first show you another mural from the area —

Main Street Ilwaco, WA

We’d just finished a hike through the lush Cape Disappointment State Park, and when we got back into town, I spotted the second of those Ilwaco murals, this one seemingly taking us to historical Ilwaco.

This large mural seems to be called 1924 Main Street. And this painting that takes us to the 1920s was painted by artist Thomas J. Teitge.

(This one reminds of a mural I’ve seen more than a couple of times by the side of Byron Highway near Brentwood, CA.)

Ilwaco, WA

Ilwaco Washington is a fishing village along Highway 101 (US 101) and beside the Columbia River. This place that was awarded city status in 1876 even has a railway history of its own.

A lovely street scene in the second mural, and I like the one with the fish too.

You found some lovely murals on your trip. The fish appear to have been painted on boards. These are wonderful finds. The vintage image is probably my favorite.
