Softly the evening came. The sun from the western horizon
Like a magician extended his golden wand o’er the landscape;
Twinkling vapors arose; and sky and water and forest
Seemed all on fire at the touch, and melted and mingled together.
— Longfellow
If you like watching sunsets at quiet beaches, Sunset State Beach in Watsonville, CA seems like a perfect location. Sunset Beach lies at the end of Sunset Beach Road (past the campsites on the hill). It looks like if it’s not summer, the beach is a pretty deserted place at dusk.
Picnic tables – Yes
Restrooms – Yes

Lovely yellow and orange. Deserted beaches are always heaven 🙂
Yeah, deserted beaches are becoming such a luxury, right? We went to Sunset Beach just to see the sunset (after a long day at Gilroy Premium Outlets). And when we got to the beach, we found that we were the only ones there and were kinda surprised. We wondered if it was ok to be there at that time of the day. A few minutes later a mom and daughter and their dog came by to see the sunset, followed by two elderly couples. That was pretty much everybody at the beach that evening. 🙂
heavenly! Beautiful snapshots. Perfect verse to go with the photo 🙂
Thank you so much, Maliny. It was a glorious evening. 🙂
So beautiful Sunset views, Great capture.
Thanks a ton, Rupam. Great to hear that from you. 🙂
Have I told you I love your pictures? 🙂
I want to ask a really stupid question. Do you take those photographs yourself? Because if you do, I just love the aesthetics of the photos posted on this blog. You have pretty much gained an avid reader.
Oh and after a few months, a new post is up on my blog. Feel free to check it out.

Aren't those lines, gorgeous!
Btw, why no new posts on One Grain amongst the storm?
Divya, great sunset pictures! It's a pleasure to see the sun hide away behind the horizon. And those magical colors it creates in the sky!
Yeah, isn't it so amazing that the sun's just going to the other side of the world yet the sky and water get so dramatic?
Thanks a ton Anu. 🙂

Niche? You mean travel? Found that quite sometime ago. 🙂 Thank you so much for being happy for me. 🙂
Ahhh…..lovely!
🙂 Thank you Panchali di. 🙂
I like the third picture with sun half hidden by the horizon. If you are capturing too many frames, you should try time-slicing. You can check out google for how to do it. You definitely need a tripod. 🙂
Gosh! that's amazing, this time slice thing. Thank you for making me look that up. I'm gonna try that; it looks like so much fun.
Yes, tripod. Soon. 🙂
Thanks a ton, Nona.
How beautiful, love the evening sky shots — they have a lovely magical effect 🙂
Magical time, really right? I remember watching a city sunset in Chennai (and taking a few pics too) in the middle of a concrete jungle and saying gosh, sunsets are always magical. 🙂
I rarely see sunrises, though. (It's so tough to wake myself up that early). 😉
Always lovely to hear from you Arti. 🙂 Thank you.
Beautiful shots and the lines in the end are beautiful. West Coast has some lovely beaches.
