Sunrise View – Check! Sunset View – Check!

A photo-feature featuring the sunrise and the sunset -- and everything in between -- from one sweet spot in Ventura County, California....
Sunrise and Sunset, Ventura
Sunrise and Sunset Destination

We don’t always find ourselves where we can catch both the sunrise and the sunset from one spot, do we?

Over winter break, however, we were in a place just like that. And what a treat it was. We were on the California coast and that meant having the Pacific Ocean before us. But that’s not all. Because we were in Ventura County we were technically on the west coast of the US but in a place that was facing south (considering the curve of the coast here). And that made it an ideal winter destination for sunrise and sunset views. Remember — if it’s winter, the sun tends to move from the Southeast to the southwest. Well, sort of. 😀

Anyway, imagine spending a couple of days with this view before you.

The islands in the distance make up Channel Islands National Park (which we didn’t get to include in this trip, because the weather forecast didn’t look right when we were doing the bookings).

Watching the Sunrise and Sunset

Evenings in Ventura meant watching the sun go down like this:

Ventura: for sunrise and senset views.

… and waking up to mornings meant watching the sun come up over these mountains in the southeast.

If it’s winter, the sun just hangs low. And sets — kind of — nearby. (Even the sun seems to love the California Coast in the winter. :D)

Another Ventura Sunset

If you’d like to witness magnificent mornings and evenings pretty much like this, try checking into places on Ventura’s* coast, just north of the City of Buenaventura. Here’s wishing you many a beautiful sunrise and sunset in 2020.

*Ventura is situated between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and is the southernmost part of California’s Central Coast.

I’ve been to Santa Barbara but never to Ventura. Looks like I need to look into visiting there. Your sunrise and sunset photos are gorgeous. What a great view!

You do? Are you a morning person?
I can’t decide which one I like more. I don’t see very many sunrises but it sure is a positive way to begin the day. I love seeing the light come up. I also love the prettiness of sunset skies. 🙂

      Thank you, Nomad. 🙂
