The day after my hike with friends at Round Valley Regional preserve, I was back in Brentwood for some outdoor time. This time it was with family, and the trail picked was Marsh Creek Trail.
Marsh Creek Trail is βeasyβ in terms of difficulty and the terrain is βfully flat.β I say itβs great for a family hike especially if you have smaller kids. If the kids would like to bike through it or ride their scooters, this is a perfect trail! Say you have even younger kids, good news is that itβs stroller friendly. That you can visit with a jogging stroller goes without saying. There were families out with wagons out there, that day. You get the picture.
Marsh Creek Trail, as its name suggests, runs beside Marsh Creek in Brentwood. The creek wasnβt much of an attraction the time we were there. Iβm guessing it was because we hadnβt had much rain that winter, that the creek didnβt seem to look its very best. In fact what made the trail prettier were the flowering trees beside the creek, especially near one part of it.

Marsh Creek Trail: The Walk
We got on the trail at Concord and Creek Road, where there is a parking lot that can accommodate 12-13 cars. (Look for East Contra Costa Regional Trail Parking.) We then walked beside Creek Road, some lovely homes and then beside Marsh Creek and a farm or two, then beside more homes and by a neighborhood park (I believe it is Creek Park) and towards Balfour.
After we got to the underpass at Marsh Creek Trail Bridge Crossing, we made our way back to the parking lot.
Things to know before you get on the trail
Difficulty: Easy
Terrain: Flat
Accessibility: Bikes, scooters, strollers and wheelchairs
Restrooms: Not really. There are no restrooms near the parking lot or beside the part of the trail that we were on that day. (The only one I spotted that day was a portable one near the park you pass when you go towards (the bridge)
Views: If it is the winter or spring months, the landscape is pretty green. And the biggest attraction is supposed to be the Marsh Creek that you will be walking beside for the most part. How good it looks will depend on the amount of rain the area received that winter.
Other things to photograph on the way: A few bridges over the creek and a canal along the way.

Come, Trip with us. π
The East Bay Regional Park system is quite large in my opinion and many choices of varied parks to choose from. At one point in time I aspired to see as many of them as possible. Perhaps I should keep the dream going.
Hope all’s well with you and family. Stay safe.
Oh yes! there are so many great places under East Bay Regional Parks. We’ve ticked off a few; many more to go. I love how green these parks get in the winter! ππ
Yes! We should go see them all!! :)πΆπΎββοΈ

That looks like a lovely trail! We have a few river walks nearby that sound pretty similar and we enjoy strolling them from time to time.
Oh, nice. π
I love walking on trails that promise the sound of gurgling water. This one didn’t have much flowing water but I know another trail that’s just like that! π <3
