If you’ve visited San Francisco, you know it’s got a vibe of its own. It can be seen in its famous landmarks, historic attractions and quirky spots. The city’s public art also stands out. Did you know that the city has a collection of stairway art? If you didn’t, now you’ve heard of it! And I’ll try to show them to you as and when I get to see them. To start with, here are the Coca-Cola Stairs of San Francisco.
These painted stairs are situated in the popular Pier 39. Pier 39 is a busy shopping and entertainment area in the city. Go here and you’ll get to see and do a number of ‘very San Francisco things.’ There are a couple of painted stairways, too.
Coca-Cola Stairs
If you visit Pier 39, it would be fun to walk around and try to locate these red steps. π
However, if you don’t have the time to look for them but would like to see them when you are there, it is beside Lefty’s – the Left Hand Store. π I spotted it in the summer of 2022. I hope they will still be there when you visit this bustling part of San Francisco.
This is not the only painted staircase I found there on Pier 39. There was a piano staircase, too. More about that, soon.
If you’ve seen another set of painted stairs on Pier 39, do let me know and I’d love to go check it out the next time I’m there. If you’ve seen any other of San Francisco’s artistic stairs, I’d love to hear about them, too.
If you’d like to see a bit more of this busy part of San Francisco, visit Pier 39 at night — with all its lights on!

How ironic, Dee. I’ve been to most of CA, but the closest I got to San Francisco is San Jose. One of these days I will make it there, but until then, I will simply appreciate your lovely photos of one of the Pier 39 stairs.
Oh is it?! It’s a wonderful city! You’ll fall in love with it when you see it. β€οΈ
I look forward to seeing your murals from SF.
Have a good week Elizabeth. π
Great stairway art. I’ve seen a few on Pintrest. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Dee.
Isn’t it?
I hope to show you guys some of those stairs on Monday Mural. π
Thank you so so much for hosting, Sami. π
Oh, one day… great mural. Bet you are thrirsty when you arrive there π
Coca-Cola art is always fun to see, and this is great. I admire the fact that Coke ads really contributed to the modern image and lore of Santa Claus, to cite another of their ad successes. I know all the criticisms, but besides being seduced by their ads I actually like to drink DIet Coke.
