If youβre in Tahoe and looking for a trail that promises you a great view at the end of the hike, this may not be the one! On the contrary, this trail ensures ‘great views all along the way!’ π Tahoe East Shore Trail lies on the east shore of the lake as its name hints, and it is on the Nevada side of the lake.
Now that you know where this trail is and a bit about the views you will get to see, let me tell you that —
a) the trail is 5.2 miles
and
b) that itβs an out-and-back trail.

A Fall Hike along Lake Tahoe
It was on a fall day in early October that we were out by the lake, this time around. Our hike started at the trail’s north end at Incline village, and ended near Sand Harbor. As we walked south along the east shore, we passed Crystal Bay, a small Tunnel with some public art, Hidden Beach, Balancing rock and Memorial Point.
The trail took us up a hill and down, past a couple of great vista points, through an underpass below Tahoe Boulevard and then onto the rim of the lake, a part of which, was on a bridge ( my most favorite part of the hike) and into Sand Harbor. And the views were exceptional through and through! Who would get tired of looking at gorgeous Lake Tahoe with it shades of blue and green?!
Here’re some images to inspire you to hit this easy trail beside the largest alpine lake in North America —
(The plan for this particular time in Tahoe was to do a hike in Emerald Bay State Park but because the trail we hoped to get on was closed for some repairs, we decided to do this one. And I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed this hike and am glad I did this first. Emerald Bay hike will hopefully be the next hike in the area! :
