If you came by the last few posts on this blog, you might know which Venice this beach might be in. This one is in California, a resort town that was modelled to be a miniature version the Venice in Italy – at least
Venice Beach gives off a notably vibrant and artsy vibe. My first visit to the beach was on a Saturday evening and it seemed to be packed with energy. There were so many people out there on the promenade. There was music blasting from a make-shift kiosk and there was a dance party in session. The sun was on the way down and skies were turning a neon blue. The lights had come on in the shops by the promenade and there were some street performers doing what they do best. Venice Beach sure seemed to wear a carnival look when I first met it.
Later, we walked towards the skate park, which is one of the attractions on the beach and there was a lot of skateboard activity going on there. Back on the promenade the crowds began thinning as we walked up north and the smell of weed only grew stronger as the night wound down.
Sights and Sounds from Venice Beach
The next morning we down to the oceanfront to have breakfast. And the promenade was quieter but not without activity. The souvenir and tattoo shops were opening up and getting ready for business for the day. Artists were in the process of opening their boxes and laying out their wares by the side of the path. The people who have made the beach their home were beginning to shake themselves awake. And as I enjoyed my Huevos Rancheros at the Sidewalk Cafe, I got to listen to some songs played by the performers out on the boardwalk.
My picture of Venice Beach is always going to be a loud and lively one. One with lots of people and art and music and trinket shops and peddlers filling the frame.
PS: If you haven’t been to Venice Beach and would like to go experience the vibe, let me also tell you that this beach is home to a whole lot of homeless people and people who are in total party mode. There is also a lot of police presence in the area. I found that they were patrolling all day and night to keep untoward incidents at bay.
Also, don’t let all the smoke in the air surprise you.

I saw the title and was like Beach at Venice ?? I thought there were canals there….then I saw it’s in California and realized this is a different Venice ha ha …. i love beaches …. its somewhere one can get close to nature even if we are living in a city
I was just north of here last week! I went to Marina del Rey but ran out of time to visit Venice Beach. My daughter lives near there, so I hope to visit and see all these sights sometime soon!

Although I’m not much of beach lover, I’d love to visit Venice beach for its artsy and vibrant atmosphere.
Venice Beach is just not another beach. It’s the people and the activities that give it a bohemian vibe.

The smoke in the air was another thing that seemed to make it different from other beaches. And it was not just cigarette smoke, here. 🙂

If you think that whole California looks exactly the same with tan people and shiny bright beaches you’re completely wrong as you’ve never been to Morro Bay. The author has precisely described this place as it has its own unique atmosphere. It’s a calm place where you can forget about all your troubles and just enjoy the moment. I really liked the video the author has shared with us as it highlights all unique features of this small town making you curious about Morro Bay. I really recommend this place to everyone who’s just tired of life.

That is so true — all CA beaches are NOT alike. While I liked the energy here at Venice Beach, I loved the calm and quiet, the Morro Rock and the playful Otters of Morro Bay. I thoroughly enjoyed the stroll through the Embarcadero, too.
