Pier 39: When the Lights Come On!

Pier 39 at night

Pier 39 is a touristy and full-of-life area in San Francisco, California. This is a great place to go for an evening stroll, buy San Francisco souvenirs and chocolates, go window shopping, eat some shrimp, Fish n’ Chips or Clam Chowder and watch the seals or the boats come in after a long day of sailing in the San Francisco Bay. Let me show you a bit of Pier 39 at night.

By the way, Pier 39 also gives you views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge and Alcatraz. So late in the evening, you see the bridges’ lights and even the beacon from Alcatraz’s lighthouse. (I wish had decent pictures of them to show you. )

The Sunday before last, I spent an evening at this pier and left there only when the crowds began thinning. Here are some pictures from Pier 39 ‘after all the lights came on’ —

    1. It's a fun place. I've been there several times but it was my first time there late in the evening. It was great. And the (lit) bridges looked great from there.
Thank you for coming by, Stephanie. 🙂

    1. There is and when it's a place as vibrant as this, it's like taking home a little bit of the energy. Sadly I couldn't do justice to the lights on the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge, both of which, are visible from here. And part of the city. The pictures from the DSLR and my phone were really sad ones :(.

    1. Believe me Leena this place looks so much better than it does in the pics.
It's a happening area with lots of people lots of light and the cold SF air. 🙂

Thank you so much, Leena. I hope you are having a good weekend. 🙂

    1. That's all I could manage.
On the other side of these buildings were city lights and lights on two iconic bridges of the city. Sadly they didn't turn out too well. 🙁

      Thanks Arun. 🙂
