The Golden Gate Bridge at night is quite a sight. After a long time of wishing to see this sight, we visited the bridge on the Golden Gate Strait, recently and saw that sight too.
That evening the Golden Gate Bridge looked stunning with all of its light and the glow that accentuates its signature International Orange outfit. How could I not bring back pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge at night, for my readers! So here you go:
Note: Both pictures are from the San Francisco side
You must also see San Francisco after dark

Thank you, Seema. Why aren't you putting up your artwork these days?
SFO by night beautifully captured, Divya!
Thank you, Mr Bhatia. It is a beautiful city. ๐
Beautiful Shots Divya!
Thank Jaish. I've wanted to see this structure at night, for a long time.
Beautiful!!

Thank you, Niranjan.
wonderful shots!
Thank you, Amit. I finally have my own pictures of this bridge at night. ๐
lovely bridge, nicely clicked :D!!!
hey, do you have some more photographs of Kerala, the ones we haven't seen?
Hey Deb, Thank you.
It's a lovely bridge, right? The colour it's painted in is called International Orange. I just learnt that the Navy initially wanted this bridge painted Blue and Yellow. I'm sure it couldn't have looked this gorgeous in those colours.
Yes, I might have some pictures of Kerala, you haven't seen, as yet. Do you want some? I could send you some, if you want. Lemme know, ok.
Divya, your shots have potential. Do correct the tilt in the first one approximately by 5 degrees clockwise in an image editor. The second one is a beautiful shot. the reflection in the strait makes the picture. You will get still better exposures in low light if you use a tripod. (These are, of course, my humble opinion.)
USP, now that's the kind of comment I'd like to see. Thank you so much for the suggestions. I'm sure you don't know how much I appreciate that. ๐ Initially, I just needed images to go with my travelogues. Now that I have an SLR, I do want to put it to full use, so I'll take all the tips and suggestions that you can give me. ๐
Yes, the tilt, I have to admit I noticed it only when I put it up…that says I I have to pay more attention when I take pictures. I'll try to photoshop it, asap.
The reflection of the bridge and the light spilling out of it does make the second photograph very special. You do have an eye for details, don't you. Nice ๐
Tripod — I'm yet to invest in that. I guess it's time to think about it. :)I took a few awful shots that day…with all the shakes and all. ๐
USP, Thank you, so very much.
Done. Worked on that first image. I hope it's better. ๐
The second picture is Perfect as a professional's ๐
Thank you Ghazala.
Since you started photography, here are a few tips:
1. For night shots, better to have a tripod. If you don't have one, place the camera on a stable surface like a rock, car, even on a folded jacket.
2. Set the delay timer.
3. Press the shutter button. The camera will click after the delay (2 seconds or 10 seconds, whatever you have set) is over.
Thank you Mr. Patra for those tips. That's so kind of you. I'm going to try that.
its beautiful !
Thank you dear TTT. ๐
Nice picture.
Thanks TF, Nice to see you here.
Awesome captures. ๐ The bridge looks gorgeous and your photography has accentuated it. ๐
Thank you so much, Raj. That is ONE beautiful bridge. It's looks even better in person :).
Very true. Couldnt agree more. ๐
Love the 2nd pic. Bit more contrast would have enhanced the image. Without tripod you can shoot with higher ISO and if you get a lot of noise you can rid it with Neat Image software which you can download from http://www.neatimage.com
Cheers!
Thank you for your feedback, Deepak. Thank you so much. I'll increase the contrast and work on ISO too.
Neat Image sounds really neat. I just looked it up. Shall try the demo right away. Thank you so much; so nice of you to share these tips with me. Cheers. ๐
Google for "Blue hour" pictures. Find out how you can take it. You might need a tripod. It will help you to get the maximum blue out of the sky. ๐
So cool.
Thank you, Nona for sharing that info. I shall look up that. Thank you so much.
simply beautifully captured shots…lovely!
Thank you Kalyan.
Golden gate–nice!!! This is the continuation of the girls' night out right? Thanks for posting. I walked over Golden Gate only once. And that too during the day. This post gives me some sense how it is in the evening!
Actually this was another night. ๐
It's breathtaking at night, Bhavana.
This is so lovely! Wish we had seen it in the night!
Lovely captures, thanks.
Beautiful, right.
Thank YOU, Vetrimagal.
I love the Golden Gate Bridge. Have some pretty good memories of the bridge!
You do? That's so nice. I love this bridge too. ๐
Yeah lived in Bay Area for a couple of years. Had numerous trips to SFO and to Golden Gate Bridge :)>
Oh, so cool. Wish you were still here. ๐
Awesome captures! Love the glow and you captured it so beautifully ๐
Thank you Arti. Welcome back. I'm ready for the Japan travel tales ๐
Thats breath – taking D, Awesome shot!
Thank you dear Mr. Wind. The Golden Gate Bride at night is an awesome sight. ๐
They really know how to light it up.
They do. What an excellent job, right?
Breathtaking view…I personally liked the first one more! The color and the expanse of the sky is mindblowing..!!
Very well captured, Divya!
Thank you, Panchali.
Really…you like the first one? Thank you so much.
I hope you had a good holiday.
wow!

Hi again, Ashok.
It looks as if we were neighbours; I used to live in SF (although this was 3.5 years ago).
Was there a bridge-walk for the 75th Anniversary of the GGB? 25 years ago–for the 50th Anniversary–my father and I walked along the GGB. There were about 1 lakh other people on the bridge before the authorities closed it to the many, many others who wanted to walk along the Bridge.
Isn't SF such a special city!
You were one of the lucky ones who got to walk the bridge in '87? Amazing! I read about that; about some people who got to do it and the rest who were waiting to do so couldn't because GGB had started sagging. Oh, those pictures are historical. How does it feel to have been a part of that history?
As part of the 75th anniversary, there was no walk as such (I heard that it was not because the bridge could not take the weight but because of the dangers of the post 9/11 era.) But there were a lot of other programmes on the bridge and all over the city that day. The bridge was closed to vehicular traffic for a few hours.
There are a lot of developments around the bridge as part of the 75th Anniv. I've been wanting to go and check it all out. I'll send you a link when I'm done.
Wow this brings back memories of my SF trip…. quite a tourist spot!
Welcome here, Dark Knight.
Last Sunday we happened to drive by Golden Gate Bridge and it looked gorgeous, blanketed in mist.
I just have to put up the pictures; shall do that one of these days.
I'm sure you liked SF. ๐
The first picture is a little too grainy. Next time you might want to increase the ISO a little…
Yessir!!
Thanks Kishan. There's a lot of learning to do. Keep the tips coming, ok. ๐
