I’m not much of a rose person, let alone a flower person, yet, when I heard that America’s best rose garden lies in my backyard — well, almost — I couldn’t help going and having a look at it for myself.
It was only a few months ago that I visited San Jose’s Rose Garden, only to find that it had just been pruned. That was in the height of winter. See, that’s how much I know about roses. However, I swore I’d be back, I just HAD TO SEE America’s Best Rose Garden at its rosy best. As such, I made sure I visited it again, this time in the summer so that I wouldn’t be disappointed. And wasn’t it beautiful! I must say I really enjoyed looking at the roses and photographing them too. I’ve never really photographed flowers and so this was one great place to start.
Like I said last time (when I visited this place in January), we packed up a little picnic lunch to enjoy at this flowery environment. It was on the eve of Fourth of July that we visited this rose garden that is situated beside Naglee Avenue. So there was a little music in the air too, thanks to a `Fiddle Jam’ that was happening at the park by the Rose garden.
