A lake in Watsonville was not exactly on my list of places-to-see in California. But one day we decided to go strawberry picking and landed up in a farm in Watsonville. Once we were done with the farm activity, we had more time on us, so we thought we’d see a little more of Watsonville. Since it was Cinco de Mayo*, we had to skip the drive through downtown Watsonville and go to Pinto Lake instead.

We went, we saw and we really liked the place. The lake was serene and beautiful, there were a few boats on the water and lot of birdlife, both in the water and outside. There were picnic tables, grills, swings and slides. Most of all, Pinto Lake seemed to be quite a peaceful place. A place where the locals hung out on a bright, warm Californian day.

Here are some pictures from Pinto Lake. You might want to have a BBQ there this summer or next.

It really was a very quiet place. There was something really nice about it. There were people around there, but it still felt very calm, like the water was sucking up all the noise.

Thank you Mr. Ramakrishnan. It was nice, easy afternoon. We didn't go sailing though…it was too hot for that. It looked like a great place to do some bird-watching, I must say. 🙂

California IS such a fun place, right? :).

This lake, to me looked like a well-kept secret. Looks like only the locals know about it. It was scenic and pretty quiet.
