Talk of Indian Street food and what comes to mind would be Chaat and Samosa and Tikkis. Now if you’re walking around San Mateo, Palo Alto or San Francisco, your attention might be caught by a bright pink and orange board that says Curry Up Now | Indian Street Food. Step in and you’ll find Indian Street food with an international twist.
Curry Up Now is where you’ll find Indianized Burritos, Quesadillas and Burgers even. Take a look at their menu:

Note:
- The Unburger – Bun Samosa or Aloo Tikki
- Aloo Parantha Quesadillix
- Deconstructed Samosa or Aloo Tikki
Amusing, right?
I’d been to Curry Up Now’s restaurant in San Mateo, CA last year and its Palo Alto, CA restaurant a few months ago and really enjoyed the food both times.
Here are some pictures of the interesting spread they have there:

When you go there, don’t forget to pick up a copy of their pink and orange menu card and check out the ‘THE WHAT’S WHAT – food glossary and definitions. If you are not familiar with Indian food, here’s a little help and if you do know something about Indian food, this is a fun read.
When I was at the Palo Alto restaurant, I had a chat with the person at the counter. I asked them about their food trucks and found that they cover several places in the San Francisco Bay Area. Now if you live in or are visiting South Bay — You’ll find a Curry Up Now truck in Sunnyvale on Tuesdays. For other locations, look up their website –

Wow.. Looks yummy.. Great to hear that lovely indian street food is available there too.. I love the menu board.. That's colourful and lovely..!!
They've been very creative with their dishes and names for it. It makes the place interesting and fun.
Here in the South of San Francisco Bay there are lots of places serving chaat and things of the sort, coz there are a whole lot of Indians here. It is the Silicon Valley after all. 🙂
(Nothing beats the taste of regular roadside food back in India, tho' 😉 )
Welcome to Tipsy From the Trip, Priya. 🙂
Great concept of creating Indian food in American style.

Indeed.
How have you been, Mr. Ram? I was missing in action for a very long time. Will be coming by your blog soon. 🙂
Yes I have been absent for a while. Was busy finishing our new house and then moving in and settling down – no easy task 🙂
Oh yeah – no easy task.
Welcome back. 🙂
Interesting.
It is. Those names make you want to try out all the dishes. 🙂
Love the twist in the desi flavors and the mango lassi, oh so tempting!
That's the fun part.
Mango Lassi was good. I've been having too much of that these days. 🙂
Every thing looks so yummy and inviting. The board that displays the names of dishes reminds one of Bollywood movie posters..
Oh yeah, they do look like old movie posters. 🙂
Every dish looked so delicious..I just want to have them all.. 😛
There were quite delicious. 🙂
This is so cool!
What about the taste?
It's good, Magiceye. 🙂

After seeing your pics, I don't know if I should've shared the link….the photo's not too good I'm afraid… I'd clicked it with my phone when my camera had gone for repairs.
Quesidillas with Chapatis? Now, that's a good idea.
Welcome here, Mukta. I'm on my way to your blog. See ya there. 🙂
Whoa that menu looks something ! And that burger ! Yummy 🙂
So innovative, right? Did you look up the names of the items on the menu, Puru? 🙂
Nice to know something from India is getting this kind of fame 🙂
First of all, welcome to Tipsy From the Trip.
There are a lot of Indians around here – the SF Bay Area. So there are several places serving Indian food. Non Indians here are quite familiar with the Indian food. 🙂
So satisfying. Looks so yummy!
'Twas good.
It was the creativity that I was impressed by.
WOWWWWWW.. I loved my trip to San Jose for one and only one reason. Food! How I wish atleast one proper Indian restaurant opened in this continent.. *sigh*
Hey Sneha, long time.
Oh 🙁 I know…
Here in San Jose, we're spoilt for choice as far as Indian food is concerned. And most places are REALLY good.
This was just great to see the marriage of cuisines:) I am sure you must have had a rocking time at this place, Divya:)
Marriage of cuisines, indeed. 🙂 That's the best part of this place.
Thank you Mr. Bhatia.
That looks so amazing…especially the kathi roll!! *slurp*
🙂
I was most attracted to the Unburger/ Unsandwich. If I'd had room in my tummy, I'd have tried the Indianized burritos.
Nice to read 🙂
