Might that be the Kaweah River? This painting-on-a-fence was found in Three Rivers, California. Three Rivers is a town on the foothills of the southern Sierras, just outside the Sequoia National Park.
We were driving back to the town after a day at Sequoia National Park when we stopped at The Gateway Restaurant (and Lodge) for an early dinner. There, near the parking was this fence the seemed to wall of the restaurant’s parking from the lodge’s parking.
This picture of a river flowing along a rocky route, with some tall trees in the background and a deer on the banks, looks quite like a picture of the area where it stands.
Three Rivers lies on the banks of the Kaweah River that flows down from this part of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. So I’m thinking that’s the river in the painting.
Kaweah River
Now let me show you what this River looks like on its path down the slopes of the Sierras.
Now that you’ve seen some photographs of the Kaweah River, do YOU also think the river in the painting might be the Kaweah?

Beautiful! Despite it was an ex-boyfriend for a reason I do love the hearts on the tree.
A very beautiful one.
Oh, you noticed the heart. 🙂
Have a good week, Iris. 🙂
That is an interesting painting… and to think it is on a fence…..
BTW some of the images at the bottom of post are not loading… you may want to check them
It just gels with the environment. 🙂
Uh-oh! I seem to be seeing them ok. Let me try to redo the picture.
Thank you so much, Prasad. 🙂
…beautiful scenery to inspire the mural.
True. 🙂
Have a great week, Tom.
Indeed a great painting on that fence and a beautiful scenery. The painting could be the river. Just a question of the quantity of water for the season.
The rocks seemed to say it might be the Kaweah. Considering it is in the Sierra mountains, I’m sure the river carries a lot of water from the winter storms and snowmelt in Winter and Spring.
Thank you for coming this way, SC. 🙂
The contrast between the mural and the actual river is interesting — maybe as one of the other comments says, just because of the season.

True, there’s a lot of water in the mural and not so much in the pictures. The Sierras get a lot of snow in the winter so I’m sure there’ll be more water there, soon. California gets very dry in the summer. 🙁
Thank you for visiting, Mae. 🙂
It’s beautifully done, love the deer on the corner. It could very well have been inspired by that scenery.
Thanks for participating 🙂
Me too — love that alert deer.
True. 🙂
Thank you so much for hosting, Sami. 🙂
