Mosaic Mural for a backsplash?

Found during a local trip in the SF Bay area - a mosaic mural backsplash at a vacation rental (and an idea for a pandemic-time trip ;)....

Would you like a mural for a backsplash in your kitchen? I love the idea after I saw just that at a vacation rental, recently. It was a mosaic mural backsplash and it was laid in a niche just behind the stove. Just look at how beautiful a picture it made:

A teeny-weeny pandemic-time trip

Did I say vacation rental? Yes, I did. But it was a different kind of a trip — a teeny -weeny one that was supposed to be a big break, a much-needed one in the middle of the covid19 pandemic. Just as our kids were getting ready to begin another school year and we were all feeling like we’d kind-of wasted the summer by not tripping, I hit a milestone birthday. And because we couldn’t plan a trip like we normally would have — especially because we’re talking about a 40th birthday, we decided to do something like a stepped-up staycation. We packed our overnight bags, and armed with masks, sanitizers, a disinfecting spray and wipes, made our way to an Airbnb just 45 minutes away from home.

And all we did in terms of a celebration were 2 nights in a little cottage, some Thai food and a hike through a pretty-secluded trail on the Diablo Mountain Range. And it turned out to be a GREAT change-of-scene!

So if you ask me what murals I brought back from my summer trips, this is all I have to show. 😁

A Mosaic Mural backsplash

A mosaic mural for a kitchen backsplash and the niche it was in, seemed to frame it perfectly. The cottage too was a lovely place. And I must say — a very clean one, too. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and badly need to get away for a bit, I would recommend this place. Leave a comment for me and I will PM you the link to this vacation rental.

We’re still in the middle of the pandemic, so if you must step out, make sure you don’t forget your mask and sanitizers. And do follow the local guidelines.
Stay safe! Travel safe! ☺

Happy, happy belated Birthday, to the next 40 years, so to say – I wish you… health (uhhh, surprise, huh) and loads of happiness!

A nice view in the kitchen, sad people use it to store stuff there.

That IS a nice sight! Somehow I didn’t mind the spice rack being there. I thought they looked good together. 🙂

Thank you so, so much for the wishes, Iris. I hope you are staying safe.
      Have a great week. 🙂

What a great idea for a getaway! I wouldn’t like to have that in my kitchen because all the cooking I do deposits grease everywhere so it would be one more thing to worry about cleaning. That said, it’s really very nice.

That was the best we could do, Mae. We really needed a change of scene.
True — that would mean quite a bit of work.

Thank you for stopping by, Mae.
You too — be well. 🙂

Happy belated birthday. I’m with Mae. It is gorgeous, but I have a stove with two ovens and I’m constantly cleaning that backsplash, which is metal, so I KNOW I’d never want to clean around the grout of that beautiful mosaic. Still, it sounds like a lovely staycation.

      Thank you, Elizabeth. 🙂
I’m sure that having it near a regularly used stove calls for a LOT of cleaning to keep that mosaic looking lovely.

It was a lovely place and a much-needed break. 🙂
      Have a good week. 🙂

      True that.
I was thinking of that when I saw the mosaic mural on Stanford Church (linked in the post). Oh! A lot of work must have gone into that.

Thank you for coming this way, SC. 🙂

It is beautiful, more importantly it has added colour and design to your big day during the confining pandemic.
Just read yesterday of the fires in California and how the skies in the Bay area have turned orange.
Stay safe Divya. Take care you and yours.

      True that.
I was so glad to be able to be out that day. 🙂 You know what I mean. How is your riding trip coming along?

Oh yes! We’ve been having some interesting skies and eerie light. The fire that was moving towards our area the week before last has been almost contained so that is a bit of relief. The air quality is still pretty bad, tho’. And it’s so sad to hear about all the destruction and evacuations and all of that.

Sure will! Thank you so much, Magiceye. 🙂
