Farms, cows, tractors and trucks, vineyards, vine and wine! There’s even the Modesto Arch. That looks like a portrayal of Modesto, I guess. It looks like the Modesto mural was painted by artist Tom Nye and it is a tribute to the City of Modesto.
Modesto is a town that lies in California’s Central Valley that’s known for is its vast flat open lands, its farmland and for the cultivation of large amounts of fruits and vegetables.
And this mural seems to be a depiction of that!
Modesto Mural by Tom Nye
I found this mural when we went into this town in the valley sometime in early fall of 2020. We were on G Street and I believe this picture of Modesto is at the intersection of G Street and 6th Street. (That’s what a picture on my phone’s camera roll tells me. )
I hear the mural also features some the people from Modesto who went on to become accomplished and well -known. Can you spot any of them? Can you identify any of them?
This is a great idea. Every city must have a mural like this — that tells its story and highlights its people. I like the idea of murals with the names of cities and their history painted into the letters of the city name, too.
