Venice of America murals

Venice of America mural, Venice, CA

A couple of posts ago, Tipsy from the TRIP took you on a tour of ‘The Venice of America,’ a miniature Venice in California. When we were strolling the walkways of Venice Canal Historic District — where the canals of Venice, CA are — I spotted a house with some murals on its outer walls. One had some fish in it. Another was a Venice of America mural.

This Venice of America mural is by Venice artist, Jules Muck. (And these pictures of the Venice of America mural are from March 2019).

The face behind Venice of America

After we were done with our walking tour of Venice Canal Historic District, while we were walking back to the public parking, I caught sight of a mural in memory of the person behind the idea of ‘Venice of America.’ This almost 3-storey mural is of Abbot Kinney, who had planned to turn this part of town into a miniature Venice. If you’d like to read more about this block of buildings built along canals, visit Venice of America – A photo tour.

This is not all. Venice, California is home not just to canals and canoes, but also a whole lot of art: murals and graffiti.
More art from Venice, CA — coming soon on Tipsy from the TRIP.

    1. 🙂
I found the Kinney mural very impressive. The grey and white figure against the red background was very eye-catching.

Thank you for hosting, Sami. 🙂

It’s a very pretty place, Tom. And the beach nearby is so unique.
And there’s so much street art around here.
      You’ll love it. 🙂

You HAVE to go experience it. 🙂
