Utility Box Artwork:
For this week’s Monday Mural, I have a couple utility box artwork from the roadsides of Livermore and San Luis Obispo. Both are drive-by shots.
The first (pic above) is a piece of public art found on Holmes Street in Livermore, California. I just learnt that the artist of this painting of what looks like a dog isΒ Aaron Lenhoff. (According to cityoflivemore.net)
This second piece of public art (below); a very colourful one at that, was found while we were driving around San Luis Obispo in the summer. I have not idea where exactly is was and who the artist is. If you happen to know, do let me know in the comments. Thank you in advance.
The first one is cute, but I do prefer the second box with the very colourful mural.
Oh yeah, the second on is such a happy and colourful sight. π
Thank you for coming this way, Sami. Have a great week. π
I like most of the utility box murals, and these are no exception. Adds a splash of color and some humor to the neighborhood.
You are so right — they do add color and humor to the streets.
Welcome here. π
Don’t know what it all means but its nice to see.
Same here. π
Have a good week ahead, SC.
I agree with Sami…beautiful colors in the second one.
That one was very eye-catching.
Welcome to this blog, Janey. π
A colorful way to decorate these boxes, they are very popular around here too!
Oh yes. They do add so much colour and interest to those otherwise boring-looking boxes. I remember noticing the artwork on utility boxes in Downtown San Jose, the year before last and being very impressed with the idea. Now I’m beginning to see more and more of these.
I’d love to see the work from your parts, Tom. π
Nice findings. For me the second one is carousel spinning very fast π
That a great way to look at it. Thank you, Klara. π
It’s amazing to me how many towns are using utility boxes as canvases. A win-win for artists and the public. Thanks for contributing to this week’s Monday Mural.
Right? Definitely a win-win.
Thank you for hosting. π
Liked the second one most.
Very attractive, huh?!
Thank you, Jyotirmoy. π
Thanks for the post π 2nd one.
The colourful one. π
Thank you for visiting, Rupam. π
Totally love the second one! Such a colorful sight π
It sure is.
Thank you for the visit, Ms. Jose. π
You certainly have a sharp eye to find these, Divya:)
haha!
My eyes do spot art very quickly. And I used to have loads of pictures of them in the travel albums. Later when I came across this meme I was like — wow– now I have an excuse to put them up. π
And now I seem everywhere! literally. π
Thank you for coming this way, Mr. Bhatia. And have a great week. π
A pleasure to find the beauties on this blog, Divya:)
Thank you so much. π
It’s such a pleasure to share them too. π
The second one is really colourful, I liked it very much
π
Welcome here.
Both look very creative. I love artists beautifying the world in this way. It makes you stop and have a look at it even when we are in hustle. Thanks for sharing this dear π
I swear. I love the colour they add to the surroundings.
Thank you so much for coming this way and leaving a comment.
And welcome here, Tara. π
This is what civilization is all about. When survival is not an issue, the individual strives to bring beauty in everyday affairs.
Hmm… yeah. I never really thought of that. Thank you for sharing that thought, Amit. π
Those murals give those utility boxes unmissable character. You surely have an eye for the gems in the rubble of quotidian existence.
They do.
Thank you so much USP. π
(btw, I just learnt a new word. π Thanks again).
I always LOVE when I see some art/improvement/beautification of basic objects (trash bins or so…) like those utility boxes.
I’m sure.
And beautifying utility boxes is such a great idea.
Thank you Klara. π
First mural gives us an impression of a robotic dog where as second mural has very beautiful colors which goes perfectly well on that box! π
Robotic was the idea I got too, when I saw it. π
The second one is very bright and striking, is it not?
Thank you for stopping by. π
