I was in a parking lot in Mill Valley when I looked up and saw this mural staring back at me. This is a Zio Ziegler mural and it sits on Cine Arts at Sequoia Theater’s outer walls.
I took several pictures of the mural, trying to cover as much of it as I could. It was packed with lots of details. I should have guessed it was a mural by Ziegler for this was not the first time I was seeing his work. I’ve come to notice that his art — most of the time — can be recognized by figures filled with patterns. After seeing this mural and going over some of the artwork on his website, I see that some bold outlines over the

When I looked up this mural I found in Mill Valley, I learned it was called ‘The Mysterious Thing.’ Aptly named?
Ziegler has this to say about his works and their meanings:

If you’d like to see this mural when you are in the San Francisco-Mill Valley area, try making plans to dine at Playa. Or eat at Boo Koo, an Asian eatery in Mill Valley –just across the road from the mural.

–>Another one from Mill Valley, also said to be his work. (I’d seen this one several times on our drives towards Highway 1 north of San Francisco. But did not see it the previous time. It has been taken down, I guess.)

Yes, that is certainly mysterious. Rather beautiful
True. Mysterious and beautiful.
Have a good week, Bertie.
I can see why the artist would leave it to our interpretation. It is definitely unique, colorful, and very mysterious. Really appropriately named, and a great find.
Yes, there’s a lot for us to interpret, here. The more I look at this mural, the more the mystery, the more I like it, too.

Thank you, Bleubeard and Elizabeth.
There is much room for interpretation, I like it!
Absolutely!
Me too.
Have a superb week, Iris.
Aptly named for sure, so much to see there. I also like the other murals in San Francisco, specially the big fish.
Thanks for contributing Dee.
Seriously — so much to see. So much mystery.
Thank you for hosting, Sami.
Love the works featured on your blog this week!!
It’s so busy! Challenging to see what the images are.

You are so right.
So much love for the mural, here on this post. I wish the artist could come by and see all this love.
Have a good week, Tom.

More love for mural.
It’s a great piece.
