There is no dearth of hiking trails in the San Francisco Bay Area. However, some of the best ones have to be mountain trails that give you views of the bay or the ones that are along San Francisco Bay, itself. One such trail is the one to Faro Point in San Leandro, CA.

Faro Point Trail

It’s an easy trail. It’s family-friendly, too. Most importantly, it hugs the bay giving you views of San Francisco Bay all along the way. You can even catch a couple of glimpses of the city of San Francisco across the bay.

The trail here is a 1-mile paved path that starts beside Marina Park and runs along three sides of Small Boat Lagoon and out to Faro Point that juts out into San Francisco Bay and loops back to the southern end of the park.

Hike + Outdoor Workout

The ease of the trail and the views on offer here are not the only draws to this place. The Faro Point Trail is punctuated with several workout stations along the way. Each of these points has a structure you can use and beside it are small information boards suggesting some exercises you can do. Take look at the pictures below to see what I mean and how cool an idea it is.

And where this 1-mile East Bay trail hits the finish line is an outdoor gym. It’s not manned and you’ll find no trainers but there are some outdoor gym equipments you are free to use. The City of San Leandro does, however, have a note with the reminder that you β€˜enjoy’ these equipments only according to your β€˜physical condition and ability to participate in strenuous exercise.’

Another thing that you’ll find at the finish line of the Faro Point trail is a point where you can start on the longer and more popular San Francisco Bay Trail.

Have you been to Faro Point? Given what you see here would you like a stroll to Faro Point? And do you have another trail to suggest out here in Alameda County? Let me know in the comments.
