Symbols of San Francisco, SF International Airport

The City of San Francisco is an interesting mix of things. From its Geography to its architecture, from its gardens to art, from its landmarks to the many events that take place in the city, not to mention the places to eat, drink, shop and hangout, it’s a city of the unlimited. There’s so much to see and do in this city by the bay however there are some famous symbols of San Francisco that you must make sure to put a check against.

San Francisco Attractions:

Some of the top attractions of the city have become famous symbols of the city of San Francisco and you are about to see them in the form of murals!

  • The first one here is Alcatraz, the federal prison on an island in the San Francisco Bay. (Been there yet?)
  • The second picture is that of a part of the skyline of San Francisco, with the unmistakable Trans America Pyramid, one of the structures that define the cityscape of this city in California.
  • Seal Rock. (The seals are also some of the famous residents of the area.)
  • Then there’s Lombard Street, which is said to be the crookedest street there is!
  • The Cable Cars of San Francisco, another symbol of this wonderful city in Northern California.

If you would like to go see these famous sites, here are some sneak peeks at them :

* Alcatraz
*Some places to catch the cityscape: Twin Peaks, The north end of the Golden Gate Bridge, even some spots across the bay like Berkeley, Oakland, Albany and San Leandro.
*I’m yet to see the Seal Rocks properly. They are apparently in the Sutro Baths area.
*Lombard Street

Where in San Francisco can you see these murals?

If you’re into murals and would like to go see these pieces of art on the walls, head to or look for them when you are at the San Francisco International Airport. They’re on the different levels of the parking structure at the airport. And they’re absolutely fun to spot.

I’m quite certain I missed at least one more of these images. I will definitely look for more when I go that side again. Have you spotted any of these?

Great murals depicting the best of San Francisco. I’ve never visited, but I have a niece who lives in San Mateo and I’ve seen photos of all of these attractions.
Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Dee.

What amazing takes on San Fransisco. I have an internet friend who visited Seal Beach this year and her photos were stunning of how many seals there were on the beach. I have never been there, but from everything I’ve seen on TV, I immediately knew where each of these places were. Great murals, Dee.

      These were such fun mini-murals.
There’s an area south of SF, which is known for its seals. It’s like a molting station. It’s now a state park. That’s where I’ve seen elephant seals in large numbers. You can look up Ano Nuevo State Park, if you’d like to know more about the place.

Thank you for visiting, Elizabeth. 🙂
